Just in the event somebody else
finds it amusing, another picture. There
was a tale from Prof. Sneddon that Prof. Rankin always tested his
camera lenses by photographing the bowling green railings from the staff
common room, the punchline being that he never sorted out the best lens,
but he had a terrific collection of photos of railings.
While we waited for the Principal, I took a shot of the railings from the
Melville Room window at maximum optical zoom (equiv. to 680mm for a 35mm
camera).
Not a good lens test when hand-held (lots of vertical shake) through 19th
century glass,
but here is the result.
